You are at work, and your curious cat is exploring the backyard or your dog is napping in the living room. Standard pet cameras often blur distant details or fail to track movement smoothly. That is where AI pet cameras with optical zoom shine. For 2026, we have evaluated two standout models: the HXVIEW 50X Optical Zoom 4K PTZ WiFi Outdoor for extreme long-range monitoring and the Anona 4K UHD Indoor Camera for smart indoor tracking. Whether you need to watch a large yard or a cozy apartment, this guide helps you choose the right one. For more context on AI pet cameras, check out our AI pet camera reviews.

Buying Guide: What to Look for in AI Pet Cameras with Optical Zoom

Optical Zoom Power

Optical zoom magnifies an image without losing detail, unlike digital zoom that simply crops pixels. For pet owners, a higher optical zoom means you can see your pet’s expression from across the yard or even a distant field. The HXVIEW model offers a massive 50x optical zoom, ideal for monitoring large properties, barns, or wildlife. The Anona indoor camera provides an 8x zoom, which is sufficient for a typical room. Consider your viewing distance when deciding.

AI Detection and Auto Tracking

Artificial intelligence reduces false alerts by distinguishing between people, pets, and vehicles. Both cameras feature smart detection. The HXVIEW uses a third-generation AI chip that automatically tracks moving humans and sends real-time notifications. The Anona camera detects pets, people, and even baby crying, then follows the subject automatically. For a deeper dive into AI features, see our best pet cameras with AI detection in 2026.

Night Vision and Low-Light Performance

Pets are active at all hours, so good night vision is essential. The HXVIEW camera shines with four infrared LEDs that reach up to 1200 feet in darkness, plus floodlights for color night vision up to 130 feet. The Anona indoor camera captures 4K UHD video even in dim light, though its night vision range is shorter. If you need to see a large outdoor area after sunset, the HXVIEW is superior.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Use

Your camera’s environment determines its required durability. The HXVIEW is IP66 waterproof and built with an aluminum housing, making it perfect for outdoor installation on patios, barns, or yards. The Anona is designed for indoor use only, with a compact 360° pan and 110° tilt mechanism. For indoor pet monitoring, the Anona offers seamless coverage; for outdoor vigilance, the HXVIEW withstands harsh weather. After evaluating both cameras, we recommend the HXVIEW 50X Optical Zoom 4K PTZ WiFi Outdoor for pet owners who need extreme long-range zoom and robust outdoor durability, especially for monitoring large yards, farms, or wildlife. For indoor use with advanced AI that detects pet crying and offers smooth auto tracking in 4K, the Anona 4K UHD Indoor Camera is a fantastic choice. Both provide reliable local storage and smart alerts, ensuring you never miss a moment with your furry friend.
